Are there any restrictions on lot size, volume, or number of trades?

There are no fixed restrictions on lot size, volume or the number of trades you can execute. Some strategies are prohibited, and activity is monitored for consistent, responsible, sustainable performance. Pivex is a simulated CFD environment across forex, stocks, indices, commodities and cryptocurrencies. These rules apply to both the Trading Challenge and the Pivex Funded (Funded Trader) stages.

Lot Size Guidelines

Lot size varies by asset class. Choose one that suits your risk level and account size:

  • Forex (e.g., EUR/USD): 1 lot = 100,000 units. 0.1 = mini lot, 0.01 = micro lot.
  • Crypto (e.g., BTC/USD): 1 lot = 1 BTC. Example: 1 lot of BTC at $50,000 = $50,000 exposure.
  • Stocks (e.g., AAPL): 1 lot = 100 shares. Example: 1 lot of AAPL at $150 = $15,000 exposure.
  • Indices (e.g., NAS100): 1 lot = 1 contract. Example: 1 lot of NAS100 at $15,000 = $15,000 exposure.
  • Commodities (e.g., Gold/Oil): 1 lot of Gold = 100 oz; 1 lot of Oil = 1,000 barrels.

Trade Frequency and Prohibited Trading Strategies

  • Consistency Rule: your largest trading day should not exceed 50% of your total profits.
  • High-Frequency Trading (HFT): not allowed: rapid, bot-like or API-based execution that generates excessive trades.
  • EAs / Trading Bots: permitted on accounts up to $100K, limited to 2000 server requests per day. HFT and the other prohibited strategies remain prohibited.
  • Grid Trading: prohibited — opening layered positions at fixed intervals without closing previous trades.

⚠️ Automated high-frequency or grid strategies are considered rule violations unless each trade has individual market logic.

Not strictly prohibited in all forms, but closely monitored:

1. Overleveraging

A position too large for your account balance. Leverage at Pivex is capped at 1:30, depending on the asset class. Example: using $10,000 of capital to control a $300,000 position (30:1) means a 2% adverse move could cost 60% of your capital. Avoid oversized positions that may breach drawdown limits.

2. Inconsistent or Irregular Risk Sizing

Varying risk dramatically (e.g., one trade risking 1%, the next 10%) makes performance hard to assess and losses hard to manage. Use stop-losses, keep your risk per day a stable, manageable percentage of your balance, and avoid large, unexpected spikes in trading volume.
