What are the Trading Strategies at Pivex?
Modified on Thu, 5 Nov at 6:50 AM
Trading strategies are systematic methods traders use to decide when and how to buy or sell financial assets such as stocks, forex or commodities. They are based on technical analysis, fundamental analysis, or a combination of both, and are designed to capitalize on price movements and maximize profits while managing risk. Common strategies include scalping, trend following, swing trading, breakout and price action trading. At Pivex, the Pivex Academy helps you understand and implement them.
Scalping Trading Style
Definition: Scalping is a short-term trading style that involves making a large number of trades to profit from small price movements. The goal is to accumulate small profits throughout the day, typically holding positions for minutes or even seconds.
Example: A trader observing Tesla (TSLA), which is known for its volatile price movements, might execute a series of small trades throughout the day, buying shares at $720 and selling them at $723, trying to capitalize on small price fluctuations.
Use Case
- Trade Frequency: Place many trades in a day, each aiming for small profit margins.
- Tools: Use tick charts and one-minute or five-minute timeframes for faster entry and exit.
Pivex Academy: our Statistical Analysis courses teach you how to measure market movements and identify optimal scalping opportunities.
Choosing a strategy
Each strategy has its own rules, risks and timeframes. Choose one that fits your risk tolerance, the time you can commit and current market conditions, and stick to your plan. You can practise with a demo account, trade on MatchTrader, and keep learning through Pivex's Trading Academy.
