When can I trade? What are the trading hours?

Modified on Sat, 31 May at 4:02 AM

At Pivex, we offer 24/5 trading for selected instruments, which means you can trade at any time during weekdays. However, crypto market is available 24/7 for trading which means you can place trades during the weekend for crypto instruments. This flexibility allows you to trade around the clock depending on the asset class you’re interested in. Trading hours for each asset class may vary slightly, so here’s a breakdown of the different market hours:

The forex market operates 24 hours a day, five days a week. Major forex sessions such as London, New York, Tokyo, and Sydney overlap during the trading day, providing continuous trading opportunities. The forex market opens on Sunday evening at 9 PM UTC and closes on Friday evening at 9 PM UTC. It remains open during weekdays but stops over the weekend.

US indices, including NASDAQ 100 and S&P 500, follow the US stock exchange schedule and are available for trading from Monday to Friday between 12 PM and 9 PM UTC. These indices are only available for trading during US market hours.

The London market, which includes instruments like the FTSE 100, operates from Monday to Friday between 8 AM and 5 PM UTC. This period typically sees high volumes due to the overlap with both the Asian and US trading sessions. Liquidity is generally high during this time, especially for forex pairs involving the British Pound.

The Tokyo market, including instruments like the Nikkei 225, operates from Monday to Friday between 12 AM and 9 AM UTC. The Tokyo market plays a significant role in global economic activities, especially for forex traders involved with pairs like the JPY (Japanese Yen).

The Sydney market, which includes instruments like the ASX 200, operates from Monday to Friday between 8 PM and 5 AM UTC. The Sydney market is essential for the Australian Dollar and commodity markets, particularly during Asian trading hours, and starts the trading week.

While all traditional markets are open from Monday to Friday, cryptocurrency markets at Pivex operate on a true 24/7 schedule. You can trade crypto assets any time, including over the weekend, without interruption. This applies to both the Trading Challenge and Pivex Traders stages, giving traders full flexibility to manage and hold crypto positions throughout the entire week.

Traditional financial markets like stocks and indices follow the regular Monday to Friday trading schedule and close over the weekend. However, cryptocurrency markets, unlike traditional assets, close for a brief period during the weekend and are available for continuous trading throughout the weekdays.
